a) not an “optional activity”
b) minimum standard obedience

Commandment  “Be Fruitful and Multiply” (Genesis 1:28)

Multiplication VS Addition  Jesus’ Way with the 12   (use Mult. Overhead)
Jesus said, “Go make disciples”, NOT “Go make converts”

Discipleship is “Reproducing Reproducers”

Review:  The Power behind Biblical Discipleship

Biblical Discipleship results from “Intimacy with God” (“being” precedes
“doing”)

For REPRODUCTION (Discipleship) to occur, an individual must:
a) be in “union” (with Jesus in a “marriage relationship” with God)
b) be pure and holy (sin impairs reproductive organs)
c) be mature (spiritual “reproductive organs sufficiently developed)

Discipleship is fundamentally based on “Relationships”
Cultivate “Depth” of relationship with God (Personal Holiness I Pet 1:15)
Cultivate “Depth” of relationship with “man(kind)” (Love  I Cor.  13)

Discipleship  Do we work “with” God (relationship) or “for” God (is it a
job)?

May we not forget that the Great Commandment (Love God and Love people
Matthew 22:37 40) PRECEDES the Great Commission (GO and make Disciples
Matthew 28:19 20)

Keep the “MAIN THINGS” the Main Thing

a) Discipleship
b) Evangelism

I  BOTTOM LINES in Discipleship
1) Walk with God
2) Be with People
3) Have a Plan (The BIG 10)

II  Be a Student of:
1) Bible (you have to BE WITH God in his Word if you want to know Him)
2) People (you have to BE WITH people to know them)
3) Culture (you have to BE WITH people to know their culture)

REASON #1 why BIBLICAL DISCIPLESHIP is not PRACTICED   it is Too time
“costly” (There will never be enough time  MAKE TIME)

REASON #2 why BIBLICAL DISCIPLESHIP is NOT PRACTICED  Very few people
have themselves been Biblically Discipled (no “model”)

* BREAK THE CYCLE AND BEGIN A BIBLICAL LEGACY of Discipleship in Jesus Name

What is the Problem with giving a Class on Teaching Discipleship?

Answer  a person could theoretically “teach discipleship” accurately (in
theory at least) for years, and never have discipled or been discipled
themselves

GOD’S WILL is WHO YOU ARE in Jesus (It’s a “Sacred Romance”)
FIRST AND FOREMOST, GOD through the HOLY SPIRIT is the DISCIPLER
And WHO YOU ARE IN JESUS is the SECOND most critical factor in Discipleship

HOLY SPIRIT IS THE DISCIPLER, AND (Doctrine of Both), HE does it THROUGH YOU

Relationship with God PRECEDES fruitful relationship with mankind
“Being” precedes “Doing” (it’s an “Inside Deal”)
First God must work IN YOU before you works THROUGH YOU
You can’t give away what you yourself do not possess

IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS ABOVE, DISCIPLESHIP/EVANGELISM WILL NOT “WORK”

REPRODUCTION IS THE NAME OF THE GAME (Reminder of the Multiplication Table)

sure, Addition “works”. it’s just insane in comparison to multiplication
Always ask yourself, “Is this Multiplication or Addition?”
and if what you are doing is simply “addition”, either turn it INTO a
multiplication situation, or ABANDON SHIP in favor of multiplication
opportunities (as Dr Coleman says, “You only have so much time!”
