“A Little” Discipleship

i asked one of the group if they would feel comfortable “discipling someone” immediately (though they were very new to the group). when they understandably said “No”, i commented on the following to raise the bar in terms of your ability and capability in doing so (ALL of you!)

1) in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king – you have one eye because you are “here” – find someone who is blind (or “blind-der”)
2) walk with god – be with people – have a plan
3) have a plan – make sure it is a good plan – execute the plan
4) i have given you a potential plan – ideas and habits that can be reproduced

5) it’s always as simple as

a) meet with someone a little bit
b) during the time you connect, pray with them a little bit
c) read the bible with them a little bit
d) in the ensuing months, if you wish, you can include a little bit of bible memory, teach a little bit of TACOS, maybe learn a little bible song, maybe learn a little bit how to use a study bible, learn a little bit about how to present the gospel, learn a bit about how to give a gospel presentation and a testimony and maybe even do a little bit of accountability (smile – the “other” BIG TEN habits)

* REMEMBER – YOUR PRIMARY DISCIPLESHIP CANDIDATES ARE INDIVIDUALS WITH WHOM YOU ARE ALREADY IN RELATIONSHIP! (whether you disciple front-door or back-door)
