Subject: Freedom in Jesus through the Word of God/Deliverence from Strongholds
There are many forces that wish to “Ambush us” from living the victorious
and joyful life in the Freedom of Jesus Christ, and from being able to
follow him with a whole heart
Some of these “Ambush Points” that impede or “Block” freedom in Jesus are:
POTENTIAL POINTS OF AMBUSH
Abuse
Pornography
Eating Disorders and related issues of Self Image/Self Esteem
Divorce
Family/Parental Relational Trauma
Rebellion to Authority Figures
Occult Activity
Generational Sins (“curses” put upon us – knowingly and unknowingly)
Various addictions – Drugs and Alcohol
Financial Chaos (Debt)
Depression and mental illness
Cultural Idolatry (movies/videos/music/sports/video games)
Fears and “believing” Lies
Negative attitudes
Bitterness/Unforgiveness

God desires us to be “FREE” of these footholds and strongholds
He wants us to be absolutely and totally free, and has given us the “keys”
in the Word of God to be so (II Peter 1:3)
ABSOLUTELY FREE of all vestiges of footholds/strongholds by the Word of God
God’s Word says further
Psalms 119:45 – i will walk about in freedom, for i have sought out your
precepts
Isaiah 61:1 – god has sent me (Jesus) to bind up the broken-hearted, to
proclaim freedom to the captives and to release from darkness the prisoners
His Word (the Bible) is to be “Believed” because it is TRUTH (John 14:6),
and able to set us free
John 8:32 – then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free
By the Word of God and his very great and precious promises (II Peter 1:4)
we can experience freedom, as he has made provision for complete freedom in
Jesus Name and by his Jesus power
One of the schemes that Satan uses (II Corinthians 2:10) to hinder and
destroy our spiritual “life” is to get us to believe lies about ourselves
and about God………and to get us additionally to “fear” (fears generated
from things we have done in the past that are “ambushing” us, or generated
from things that have been “done TO us” in the past)
These lies are to be confessed (acknowledged/admitted) and repented of for us to be
“free” of their power over us (II Corinthians 2:10)
For to believe these “lies” that are contrary to the Truth of God about Him
and about ourselves is to fail to trust God’s Word, and this is Sin
Because it is SIN to NOT BELIEVE the God’s truth or trust in his Word and
his promises (it is sin to not believe the “truth” of what he says about us
or about Himself)
And these “fears” (both legitimate and illegitimate) are used to
“hold us captive” (II Timothy 2:26) and keep us from being free, at peace
and fully “alive” in Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7)
For only God is to be “feared” (Luke 12:4-5)
The enemy “whispers” in our minds continually these lies and fears (through
our fallen nature/the “world system/demons themselves) that steal our joy
and spiritual “life” (John 10:10)
The way we can experience freedom from these lies and fears is to confess
them and repent of “believing them”, instead of believing the truths of God
about his goodness and grace
For if we do NOT RECOGNIZE these “lies and fears” and address them as “sin”
(unbelief), we thus allow them to continue to rattle through our minds,
they stay “attached” to us and then may exert control over us
Question: How much do i want to be free of what is “controlling” me?
If i wish to be “Free” very, very much……… in Jesus name and by the
power of his shed blood and the cross of Jesus Christ then i can be FREE
INDEED
II Corinthians 3:17 – where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom
Galatians 5:1 – it is for freedom that Christ has set us free
John 8:36 – so if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed
Romans 6:18 – you have been set free from sins
Romans 8:2 – because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life
set me free from the law of sin and death
AND WHEN JESUS SAYS “FREEDOM”…….HE MEANS IT

A reminder from a gal who was recently delivered and set free from the lies
and fears that had plagued her for 20+ years
She said in a recent email to me, after hearing that i was going to be
speaking on this issue (specifically regarding self-image and eating
disorders) to college students;
“Scotty, I find myself weeping over the bondage of others and begging God
to teach them they don’t have to be like this. God wants His children to
live a life of abundance and not be trapped by sin or Satan. He loves us so
much and wants so much more for us. I really believe that God doesn’t want
people struggling with (eating disorders and self-image problems) just like
he didn’t want me to be trapped by spiritual influences”
“Please tell them they can be free. Not just survive this world but live
life abundantly. God wants so much more for His children. Please God,
please break through their bondage. Please God, set them free. The thief
comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But you have come that we may have life
and have it to the fullest. Show them, God. Please. Please, they can be
free. Please God, don’t let them stay trapped. Tell them God loves them
beyond their looks. Read Romans 8 to them. Tell them nothing can separate
them from the love of God. Not even food. They are beautiful to God period”
“Please tell them about me. Tell them that I am free. Please make them
understand, God. Please set the captives free that they may truly worship
you and be in Your presense. Please tell them that life is so different
when you are free. With a word, He can free them if He chooses. Please
God, please set them free”.

Why be burdened by a “yoke” of slavery (Galatians 5:1) when it is God’s
Will that we be “free indeed”
Personal Testimony – for too long, i “believed the lies” about myself and
God and stayed “trapped” in discouragement and various other “UN-truths” etc.
I said to myself, “well, i’ll always struggle with this and that. i guess
that is my thorn”
NO NO NO NO NO
I refuse to continue to believe those lies about God and about myself!
GOD WANTS ME FREE OF SIN AND IT’S ASSOCIATED DISORDERS, AND IN JESUS NAME I
WILL BE FREE BY THE WORD OF GOD AND BY THE POWER OF GOD
The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil (hebrews 2:14)
and the devil’s work (I John 3:8)
Psalms 118:5 – in my anguish i cried to the Lord, and he answered by
setting me free
Psalms 119:32 – i run in the path of your commands, for you have set my
heart free
Psalms 146:7 – the Lord sets the prisoners free
Revelation 1:5-6 – to Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by
his blood and has made us a kingdom of priests to serve his God and Father
Now THAT’S the TRUTH!!!!

OK, WHAT DO WE DO NOW
Without being too simplistic
IN JESUS NAME, we ought to with great fervor follow a pattern of prayer something like the following
THE 5 R’s
1) Repent of the sin (disbelieve God/believe lies/controlled by fears)
2) Renounce their control over us in Jesus name
3) Reject them and any further influence in your life in Jesus name
4) Rebuke Satan in Jesus Name (lead us not into temptation/deliver from evil)
5) Replace the lies/fears with the “truth” of God’s Word
Or to say another way
1) Confess the lies/fears (first “R”)
2) Break the “sin attachments” (2nd-4th “R”)
3) Confess the truth (5th “R”)
Are you a believer? if so;
CONFESS your sin
CONFESS the TRUTH OF God’s Word (regarding the issue that you are facing)
WAR IN THE SPIRIT (Prayer, using the Bible, the POWER OF GOD (Rom 1:16)
Learn how to use and use and re-use the “Armor of God” (Ephesians 6:10-18)
II Corinthians 10:3-4 – “for though we live in the world we do not wage war
as the world does. the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the
world. on the contrary, they have DIVINE POWER to demolish strongholds. we
demolish arguments and every pretension (lies and fears) that sets itself
up against the knowledge of God (the Truth)…..”
Romans 12:2 – do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but
be transformed by the renewing of your mind. then you will be able to test
and approve what God’s will is; his good, pleasing and perfect will
However, remember, the battle for your “freedom” is a battle, and a DAILY
BATTLE
And so, we must take up the armor of God in prayer and confession DAILY
For FREEDOM is a decision. a decision to LIVE IN THE PROMISES OF GOD
(versus living in the reality of our “feelings”)
May we PERSEVERE
Hebrews 10:36 – you need to persevere so that when you have done the will
of God, you will receive what he has promised. for in just a little while,
he who is coming will come and will not delay. but my righteous one will
life by faith
James 1:12 – blessed is the one who perseveres under trial, because when he
has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised
to those who love Him
HATE SIN……in Jesus name
HATE LIES……in Jesus name
HATE FEARS……in Jesus name
Claim the POWER of the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST
Claim the POWER of the Blood of Jesus Christ
Claim the POWER of Cross of Jesus Christ
Claim the POWER of the AUTHORITY OF JESUS CHRIST, as a Child of God

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE FREE OF?
GOD IS ABLE, AND DESIRES YOU TO BE ABSOLUTELY FREE……AND HE WILL DO IT
Satan will steal, kill and destroy us NO MORE
IN JESUS NAME, HE WILL BRING THE VICTORY (I CORINTHIANS 15:55-57) TO HIS
CHILDREN, BY FAITH (I JOHN 5:4)
